How to use the message board

To use the message board to its fullest potention, you should login to your account. If you are not yet registered with us, instructions for registration can be found HERE.

If you are logged in, it will look like the graphic below.  If you are not logged in it will just say Welcome!  Login/Register

 

The Main Toolbar

Above the top of the the board you will find the board toolbar.  On the index page it only shows GO - NEW - FIND - TOOLS - ADMIN but if you go within any of the subforums, the bar looks like this:

First, let's discuss the extra button.  If you would like to reply without having to scroll to the bottom of a thread, you can do so by clicking the quick reply button (the blue arrow above) or regular reply (the yellow arrow above). If you would like to follow a thread via email (a message will be sent to you when someone replies) click the Notify button and choose the settings that will work best for you.

For the other buttons, first, the GO button is the most important. 

Looking at the GO menu above, notice that you have 4 submenus. The first, Personal Zone, is then set up with more submenus. 

• Profile - Change your location, signature, bio, etc.
• Buddies - if you have added buddies, you can view them here
• Groups - if you belong to any groups they are listed here
• Permissions - what permissions you have been given by management
• Private Messaging - Your PM directory
• Notifications - see what your notificatio preferences are
• Karma - not really used for this forum
• Preferences -
• Favorites - Threads you are keeping an eye on.
• More - this brings you to the entire Personal Zone file
  

If you click on Member Directory, this will take you to a list of all of our
members.

If you click on Forums you will get another submenu with all of the subforums listed. This is a quick way to get between subforms.

Chatrooms is for premium members only.

Now let's look at the New button.  Under this you will find 3 or 4 subtopics depending on where you are on the forum.  If you wouldlike to start a new topic, click NEW > DISCUSSION.  If you would like to do a poll, then select POLL, etc. 

The Find button is very helpful as not only can it search the board but it can also bring up the latest posts.

If you want to see what has been active since the last time you logged on to the forum, then click New Since Last Visit.  Instead Today's Active Topics will show you where it is the busiest on the board. You can also search for a word or phrase or if you would like to use more details, click on Advanced Search and then fill out the areas you wish to narrow down your search.

The tools button is very handy

To keep an eye on a thread, add it to your favorites. Want to print it out or send a copy of it via email, then click those choices.  Under help you will find help files for the board that were written by Groupee.
